Our Mission
Planetary Perspectives is the flagship publication of Blue Marble Space (BMS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research institute and global community of scientists, educators, and lifelong learners built on a simple conviction: to explore is human. We envision a world united by our common identity as ambassadors of Earth.
Our mission is to enable scientists and educators to push the frontiers of knowledge and deliver transformative training. We foster curiosity and creativity in research, communicate with global audiences, and mentor the next generation to be stewards of Earth.
We are a global community and nonprofit research institute, united by a shared commitment to understanding life as a universal phenomenon, inviting lifelong learners on a journey to explore space and advance a sustainable future.
This publication is where that mission lives on the (digital) page.
Every issue brings you dispatches from the frontiers of astrobiology, planetary science, and space exploration, written by researchers, educators, and storytellers. Learn more about BMS’s research, education, and community programs at bluemarblespace.org.

Pitch Us: Write for Planetary Perspectives
We’re always looking for new voices to contribute to Planetary Perspectives.
If you have a story about astrobiology, planetary science, living on Earth, space exploration, or the search for life in the universe, we want to hear from you.
Following standard science-writing practice, we ask for a pitch rather than a finished draft. In one or two short paragraphs, outline your idea: the angle you’d take, why it matters, and why it’s a fit for our readers. Include any relevant credentials, links to past writing, or sources you plan to draw on. Email your pitch to info@bmsis.org or send it as a message to us here on Substack.
